Miss Dee Forbes is a master social studies teacher, educational consultant and doctoral student who is passionate about creating rich learning experiences around Black History education and developing racial literacy in the classroom. In June 2026, she was named Georgia History Teacher of the Year by The Gilder Lehrman Institute for American History!

Miss Forbes has taught various social studies courses, including U.S History, AP African American Studies, World History, African American History, AP United States History, Economics & Personal Finance, Civics & Economics, and she serves as a table leader at the AP African American Studies exam reading.

During her student teaching experience, Miss Forbes saw a need for a more engaging curriculum that centered Black stories and histories. She began designing her own resources and curriculum to engage students. Students went from a lack of understanding of Black History to being deeply engaged and invested in learning more. Those seeds planted in college would later sprout into Social Social Studies Scholar LLC. Today, Miss Forbes' lessons and curriculum have supported thousands of educators across the United States!

As a solo entrepreneur, she has facilitated Black History and social studies learning experiences for organizations like NCSS, NEA, EverFi, Quizlet, University at Buffalo, Gibbs Smith Education and more. Furthermore, in 2026, she has been named a Prentiss-Charney Fellow with the Zinn Education Project and a Civil Rights Teaching Fellow with the National Center for Civil and Human Rights.

Miss Forbes enjoys supporting educators by facilitating interactive keynote workshops on Black racial literacy, radically teaching Reconstruction and fostering a culturally centered classroom!
